Palo Alto Unified School District(PAUSD) Health Council is made up of school and community advocates that engage in a partnership to effectively support the District educational community in the area of student health. The Health Council promotes school settings in which students, staff, parents and the community work collaboratively to ensure that each student is emotionally and physically healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged. The Health Council is built upon the idea that when school and community services are coordinated, children, schools, and families experience greater levels of success and health. A belief in the whole child and promoting learners who are emotionally and physically healthy, knowledgeable, motivated and engaged is central to the Health Council’s focus. Given that student health is linked to academic success, partnerships that help students stay healthy is central to the work of the Health Council. The work of the Health Council is facilitated by PAUSD schools, which actively engage in efforts to promote the social and emotional health of all children.
